A DEAFNESS charity in Cheshire has welcomed further support and an audiovisual donation from a community fundraiser.

Angela Burrows, head of fundraising at Deafness Support Network (DSN), met Billy Birch at Asda in Ellesmere Port to receive his latest donation: an XBox 360 and a flat-screen TV for the charity to use in youth clubs across Cheshire.

Billy recently made a donation of £1,200 worth of electrical, outdoor and camping equipment to the cause, as well as money to spend on a party for young deaf, deafened and hard-of-hearing people who use the charity’s four centres.

Billy who has raised £96,096 for charity since 1990, thanked Agra Fort Indian Restaurant, Asda, Morrisons and Wilkinson in Ellesmere Port together with Liverpool and Everton football clubs and Granada TV’s Coronation Street and Capenhurst Nuclear for their generosity giving donations and raffle prizes.

Billy, a long-time supporter of DSN, said: “It is so important to me to show where the money that is donated by the good people of Ellesmere Port is going.

“DSN is one of those charities that does such great work in our community. I can’t thank the people of Ellesmere Port enough for their help and support in getting the money together and making this happen.”

Angela said: “Billy is an inspiration to us all and his fundraising feat so far is staggering. His donations from Asda will go toward helping young people who use our service improve their lives by making connections with other young people with hearing loss.”
