CHESHIRE fire service are reminding people not to park over fire hydrants after crews were delayed from extinguishing a car fire because they didn’t have enough water.

An appliance from Ellesmere Port fire station was called to the Stanney Grange estate in the town after reports of the vehicle blaze.

On arrival they found that a car was well alight and that another car was parked over the nearest fire hydrant.

It took the crews longer than usual to start extinguishing the fire due to the obstruction and therefore more damage was caused to the burning car.
