A FRAGRANCE factory will be replaced by a 71-unit residential housing development in Ellesmere Port.

Outline planning permission for the plans, on PZ Cussons’ Fragrance Chemicals site, in Cromwell Road, has now been granted.

The plant which employed 25 people, has moved production to a new £26m site in Manchester Business Park.

Real estate broker CB Richard Ellis, who are marketing the site, has secured outline planning permission for 71 residential units, with parking and open space on the site.

The planning permission incorporates a longer time limit of five years for submitting reserved matters instead of the standard three.

Steven Verity, director of residential at CBRE North West, said: “There is currently a lack of quality housing provision in Ellesmere Port, with the site traditionally regarded as a primarily industrial location when, in fact, positioned between Manchester and Liverpool and in close proximity to the Cheshire countryside, the town is a fantastic residential location.”
