WEST Cheshire College has confirmed that a member of staff at its Ellesmere Port campus is being treated for swine flu.

They are said to be coping well with the virus after undergoing treatment.

In line with current Government advice, the Regent Street college will remain open.

Students and staff are being urged to take extra precautions to prevent the spread of the flu by washing their hands regularly.

Antiviral sprays will be issued to all offices and work areas as soon as possible and communal keyboards and phones will be cleaned.

Anyone suffering symptoms of flu are being urged to go home and to not come into the college.

A West Cheshire College spokeswoman said they were well-prepared for the swine flu virus, with staff having been trained in managing it.
