TWO Ellesmere Port choirs took time out of their busy schedules to make a donation to a good cause.

Members of the Fireflies and Great Sutton Male Voice Choirs visited Trinity Methodist church to present a £400 cheque to Chester and Ellesmere Port Foodbank, raised from a Christmas concert.

Fireflies have been busy working toward the production of a new piece of music which will tell the story of Ellesmere Port.

Local composer Matt Baker and writer Janys Chambers have joined forces to write an anthem which will be performed by a choir of local schoolchildren and choirs led by the Fireflies themselves for a performance on Sunday, July 14.

The project was funded by a successful bid to the BBC Performing Arts Community Music Fund.
