ELLESMERE PORT’S bus service 36 is now running seven days a week.

The route has increased from an hourly to a half-hourly service, with a new Sunday and bank holiday service linking Ellesmere Port Railway Station to the town centre and Cheshire Oaks.

The increased service on weekdays (Monday-Saturday) will connect with Merseyrail’s half hourly services arriving from Liverpool between 7am and 7.30pm throughout the day.

The enhanced Sunday and bank holiday service will operate between 10am and 3.30pm connecting to Merseyrail’s half-hourly services.

And the improved bus services will link Ellesmere Port Railway Station and the town centre with Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, The Coliseum, M&S and the Blue Planet Aquarium.

Cllr Lynn Riley, executive member for community and environment, said: “The enhanced service will provide a viable ‘greener’ alternative for both residents and visitors travelling by train from Liverpool and other Merseyrail destinations, as well as a more flexible service to the increasing number of jobs in and around Ellesmere Port.

“Initiatives like this are more than simple transport improvements, and open doors to our stated commitment to improving economic prosperity and access to work across the borough and subregion.”

The service has been made possible through the council’s ’Connect to Jobs’ programme funded by the Department for Transport’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund, one of many initiatives to provide more sustainable means of travel across the borough.
