An annual fun day is being planned in a popular park.

Neston residents and their families are invited to  join the Friends of Stanney Fields Park in a free afternoon of games and festivities on Saturday, August 9.

Taking place between 1pm and 4pm, the park will be filled with free activities ranging from  mobile climbing walls, craft workshops, bowling  taster sessions and a children’s entertainer to giant games, mini-golf, face painting and air blasters.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the beautiful park with its playgrounds and newly refurbished dell area as well as the skate park with its recently added new ramp.

During the fun day, which has been funded by the Friends group and local borough councillors Andy Williams (Lab), Kay Loch (Con) and Louise Gittins (Lab), refreshments will be on sale and members of the Friends group will be on hand to chat with visitors about the park and the group’s activities.

They will also be organising their popular raffle with prizes donated by local businesses. All proceeds will go towards future community events.

Cllr Williams said:“I would encourage all local residents to visit Stanney Fields Park on Saturday and see what’s on offer, there promises to be something for everyone.

“It really is a lovely afternoon so people are welcome to come along. Most activities are free so please come along, support the local Friends  group and have an enjoyable afternoon in your  park.”

Improvements to the park costing £80,000 were completed earlier this year.
