Ellesmere Port has some of the most disadvantaged areas in the country – what is being done to improve these neighbourhoods?

It is a complex issue and whatever is being done at present is clearly not working and requires an overhaul to get all public services involved communicating with one another more effectively. Although, initiatives like the free home insulation was a great starting point.

Do you support fracking in the town?

Generally, I am in support of fracking. However, I am sceptical of the safeguards required, and safeguards implemented, of the fracking company in a town with such a conglomeration of petro-chemical industries already present.

Should the M53 be moved out of town as suggested by Cllr Mike Jones to reunite the town centre and the waterfront?

In principle a good idea with great possibilities for development but in terms of importance it comes low down on my list of priorities for the town at present.

Is the new borough council better for the town than the previous Ellesmere Port and Neston Council?

Overall, yes. Services, investment and access to council staff in the area have improved.

Are local bus services good enough for those who wish to reach education or employment or visit family and friends?

No. This requires a closer investigation and a full study undertaken.

Should all town centre parking be free to boost the shops in what has been described as one of the poorest town centres in the country?

Yes. I have campaigned for free parking throughout the borough and succeeded in attaining free resident car parking in the Ellesmere Port Town ward (and surrounding areas) and ‘Free after Three’ in the town centre itself.
