AN OIL giant has stepped in to provide relaxing and enjoyable days out for older residents.

Shell UK (Stanlow) joined forces with Age Concern Cheshire earlier this year to deliver trips, treats and visits for elderly residents in the Ellesmere Port area.

Visits included outings to Llangollen, Hoylake, Manchester’s Imperial War Museum and Southport, as well as treats such as facials, manicures and massages.

Shell technology manager Eric Waugh and communications assistant Rachel Strefford joined a group of local older people during an organised day trip on a canal boat at The Cheshire Cat in Christleton, Chester, to announce the renewal of their sponsorship with Age Concern Cheshire.

Mr Waugh said: ‘The scheme provides an excellent opportunity for our local older residents to get out there and meet people and have a fun time while in a safe and friendly environment.

‘We are delighted with the work Age Concern Cheshire has done and were more than happy to continue to support this great initiative.’

Age Concern representative Barbara Lawton said: ‘Our aim is to promote the well-being of all older people and help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

‘Working in partnership with Shell Stanlow has enabled us to do just that and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing support.’
