DRUIDS launched their Loosemores Cup campaign with victory in their opening group game against an Airbus side whose own hopes of progressing have faded following their second defeat in the competition.
With both sides showing a number of changes, the only goal arived nine minutes into the second period when Jay Foran nodded home a loose ball after Andrew Edgar had collided with keeper Chris Doran as he broke onto a pass from Darren Williams.
Doran was forced off six minutes later with an injury picked up in the collision, with Neil Wynne taking over in goal.
Although Airbus had a couple of opportunities, the real danger came from Druids front runner Kevin Holsgrove, who provided a number of telling crosses for the hosts which went unconverted.
Darren Williams and Chris McGinn both failed to profit from Holsgrove's endeavours while Timmy Edwards headed over from a corner.
After the break, Gareth Roberts and Edgar both had headed efforts cleared off the line as the home side pushed forward.
Airbus, looking for their first points in the cup, carved a couple of promising openings with Danny Hughes seeing a headed effort saved by Chris Mullock on 12 minutes, while Danny Stanton's strike was also well stopped by the keeper on the half-hour.
