NEWI Cefn Druids continue their build-up to the new season tomorrow against Football League opposition, with Peterborough United visiting Plaskynaston (6.30pm).

Managed by former Wrexham captain Darren Ferguson, Peterborough won promotion to League One last season and Druids joint-boss Wayne Phillips is delighted his ex-Racecourse colleague agreed to the attractive fixture.

“We don’t know what sort of team they are sending, but it’s a terrific gesture by Darren and it will be a very good test for us,” he said.

“Regardless of their age, all the United lads will be good players who can pass the ball well and keep possession so they will make it very difficult, which is what we want from a fitness point of view.”

Druids, who drew 1-1 at Colwyn Bay last weekend, will give a debut to defender Lee Jones, who was released by Wrexham in May.

The teenager turned down several other Welsh Premier sides to join Druids, who have also recruited experienced striker Nicky Ward this summer.
