A MARCHWIEL man who reversed into a car in Deeside failed to stop after the accident.

Flintshire Magistrates Court heard that when Frederick George Milner, 53, was later challenged about it, he offered to pay without getting the police involved because of the number of penalty points on his licence.

But he then refused to pay when the estimate provided for the damage was more than £1,000.

Instead he admitted careless driving and failing to stop.

Milner, who lives in a caravan at his workplace at Maelor Road, March-wiel, was fined £435 with £35 costs and was banned from driving for six months under the totting up procedure.

Milner told magistrates he needed his driving licence to visit his elderly mother in Llanarmon-yn-Ial, near Mold.

He said she had not been the same since his brother was killed in a road accident and he needed to attend her on an emergency basis at times.

But magistrates decided there were no exceptional circumstances that could prevent him from being disqualified.
