A DRIVER has appeared in court charged with allegedly stealing £70,000 worth of wine from Quinn Glass.

Ronald Straker, of Lytham Road, Blackburn, allegedly stole 3,250 cases of wine from the glass manufacturer’s factory in Elton while he was working as a haulage driver.

On Monday the 50-year-old appeared via video link before Chester Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to the offence of theft from the factory in January 2010.

Straker, who was remanded in custody, is due to stand trial at Chester Crown Court on May 14 for the alleged theft.
