WREXHAM trio Lee Jones, Steve Roberts and Paul Edwards have played their way back into contention for first-team recalls on Saturday.

They figured in a Dragons reserve side which suffered a 1-0 home loss to Carlisle yesterday.

Edwards played an hour, with defender Roberts and striker Jones playing 45 minutes, the latter recovering from a dead leg which saw him miss Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Luton.

"I got a whack on the knee last Thursday and I'm still struggling with it," said Jones. "But I played a half in the reserves and touch wood there's been no reaction.

"Hopefully that will see me right for Saturday and it's an important game for us."

Strugglers Wycombe Wanderers visit the Racecourse, with the Buckinghamshire club still on a high after former Arsenal legend Tony Adams took over as manager.

"That's a fantastic appointment for them," said Jones. "We know that every side in this league is capable of beating each other, so we won't underestimate them.

"We need to get back to winning ways because three points can get you right back up this league."

Jones believes Wrexham have more than held their own on returning to the Second Division and can aim for a second successive promotion.

"Plymouth are the side who have impressed me the most," he added. "I think they more or less outplayed us, even though we got a point.

"We're gearing up to move up the league."
