WREXHAM have missed out on an invitation to this summer's Steam Packet International Football Festival in the Isle of Man.

Despite being regular visitors to the tournament over the last 15 years, organisers have not been able to find a place for Denis Smith's men this year.

A letter to Wrexham from the tournament organisers said: "Once again we have been inundated with clubs wishing to take part and unfortunately we have decided not to invite your club to participate."

Wrexham spokesman Geraint Parry said: "The organisers have a responsibility to generate interest in the games each year and it's understandable for them to want to look for new teams each year.

"We fully understand the decision and hopefully will get the opportunity to go back there in the future."
