WREXHAM’S Blue Square Premier derby clash with neighbours Chester City has been switched on police advice to a Sunday with a noon kick-off.

The Racecourse clash was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 26, but has now been put back to the following day.

It will be the first meeting between the two sides in almost two seasons following City’s relegation from the Football League last May, which was accompanied by a 10-point penalty as a result of the club going into administration.

Wrexham, meanwhile, open their pre-season programme of friendlies with a home match against Coventry City on Saturday, with manager Dean Saunders still hoping to field more new faces.

Striker Gareth Taylor and midfielder Adrian Cieslewicz are set to make their debuts alongside familiar names such as Mark Jones and Nathan Fairhurst, but the Dragons boss is working hard to further strenghten the squad.

“I’m speaking to players, one after another,” he said yesterday.

“We are getting closer to things happening and I’m waiting for answers to offers that I have made in a number of cases.”
