BRIAN CAREY reckons Wrexham’s first game of the season at Darlington is the perfect opportunity for his players to wipe away last term’s woes.
The Dragons boss last night said victory in the tough away clash would put his side in high spirits for their first home match of the League Two campaign against new boys Morecambe the following weekend.
After narrowly avoiding dropping out of the league for the first time in their history last season, Wrexham travel to Darlington on August 11.
They then host Morecambe, who join the Football League for the first time after beating Exeter in the Conference play-off final.
Carey said: “If we can get a result at Darlington we can go into our first home game of the season against Morecambe on a high.
“A lot of people would ask for a home game for the first match of the season, but those are the fixtures we’ve been given and now we’ve got to make the most of them.”
Wrexham’s derbies against Chester are at the Racecourse on November 24 and the Deva Stadium on March 8 next year.
On September 1 the Dragons’ second home game is against border rivals Hereford, while their final game of the season is on May 3 at last season’s promotion hopefuls Lincoln City.
