WREXHAM'S assistant manager Kevin Russell has not ruled out the possibility that he might yet again be called upon to play for the League One club.

Speaking at the Fans' Forum in Douglas, "Rooster" said he had not renewed his player's licence this season but could easily rectify that should the need arise.

"I could be forced into playing again because we have such a small squad," he said.. "But it's very hard to coach other players and train at the same time, although I do try and work on my own when I have the opportunity.

"Having said that, if the occasion is that I'm needed, I am sure that I could play."

Russell and Brian Carey flew back to the Isle of Man yesterday ahead of the main party in order to take part in a specially organised coaching session for dozens of youngsters from local schools.

The three-hour sessions were staged at two venues on the Island and each of the five professional clubs participating in this year's tournament supplied two representatives to ensure children reaped the maximum benefit from the experience.
