TWENTY excited youngsters with special needs jetted off to Disneyland Paris on this year's trip of a lifetime with Miles of Smiles.

Each child – from Ellesmere Port, Chester and Flintshire – was accompanied by a parent or guardian. They were joined by GP Heather Pearson and co-ordinators from the Pioneer-backed charity.

The New York Hotel was the base for the group's four-day all-expenses-paid trip to Europe's fun capital.

Their excursion was made possible by 12 months of fundraising events and donations from individuals, teams, groups and businesses in the Port and further afield.

Great Sutton resident Julie Pleavin said the holiday with seven-year-daughter Natasha was an experience they would “remember forever”.

She added: “Everyone involved in making these trips happen should be very proud.

“You can't express how wonderful the whole adventure has been for us as a family.

“The New York Hotel was incredible, and the warmth of everyone on the trip and in Disneyland itself shone out. It was absolutely incredible".

Miles of Smiles chairman Mick Hughes said: “Another fantastic trip has been made possible by an army of fundraisers and supporters, all committed to changing lives for the better.

“Well done to everyone involved, especially Brian, Johnny, Emma and Lynsey from the committee for overseeing the trip and putting everyone at ease.”
