DINO Maamria has hit back at Northwich Vics after he was dismissed by club owner Jim Rushe last week.

The ex-boss, who took over as manager in October last year, was told he was no longer wanted by the club after returning from a three-week suspension while an internal investigation was launched at the Marston’s Arena.

But Maamria claims that he has been left in the dark by Rushe as to why he has been sacked and is taking legal advice as to whether or not he can sue Vics for unfair dismissal.

He said: “There is absolutely nothing to it. If Jim had a reason to sack me then it would have come out by now.

“Sometimes football is not fair and this was not fair. I am very disappointed by the decision and by the way I have been treated over the past three weeks.

“Time will tell whether it has been for the benefit of the football club or for the benefit of Jim Rushe.

“I am going to take action against the football club. It’s a shame because I know Northwich Vics are not in a good financial situation.

“Jim Rushe has taken a personal decision against me and he got me right where he wanted me.”

Maamria claims that Rushe tried to force him out after he refused to let the Vics owner influence contract deals with former players and that their working relationship was always strained.

He said: “He made it very hard for me and had asked me to leave a few times before the summer. I told him that if he wanted me out then he had to sack me. I had a contract to honour.”

Maamria is hoping to get back into management as soon as possible.

“I have proved I have got what it takes to be a successful manager, I am now looking for a club with ambition and desire who wants a manager who can help them play attractive football,” he said.
