ASSISTANT manager Kevin Russell will give the Wrexham players a break from their training routine today while Racecourse boss Denis Smith attends a referee liaison meeting at West Bromwich Albion's Hawthorns Stadium.
"The players are going paint-balling as part of a team-bonding exercise and I'll be at the meeting of managers to hear what new interpretations referees will be applying to the rules next season," Smith said.
"Fifa seem to like tweaking things every year to justify their existence and I can't say I always agree with the changes but if we are told what they are, we can't argue about it later in the season.
"The only change I'm aware of is that goalscorers celebrating by removing their shirts will be cautioned, which seems harmless compared with some of the pulling and shoving that goes on at set-pieces, such as corners and free-kicks.
"Nowadays it seems players aren't even looking at the ball but are more interested in grappling their opponents to the ground.
"Yet nothing is ever done about that."
