CONVICTED loan shark Paul Nicholson is to appeal his indefinite prison sentence.
The former bouncer lived a life of luxury at his £1m, 14-acre estate on Golf Course Road, Delamere, before being sent down in March for blackmail, rape, assault, illegal money-lending and acquiring criminal property.
Judge Thomas Teague jailed him for a minimum of six-anda-half years at Warrington Crown Court.
But the Imprisonment for Public Protection sentence means his jail term has no maximum tariff.
A Court of Appeal spokesman this week confirmed an appeal against sentence had been lodged, but no date has been set.
Nicholson’s lawyer, Stuart Page, of Manchester legal firm Ralli Solicitors, was unavailable for comment.
Since his imprisonment, Nicholson has been moved from HMP Altcourse in Liverpool to another prison in South Wales because of his status as a convicted sex offender.
The 40-year-old, who preyed on up to 800 vulnerable victims, is scheduled to appear at Warrington Crown Court in December when a judge will decide whether to strip him of his ill-gotten gains.
