Pupils at Dee Point Primary School in Blacon have set themselves a New Year resolution to take part in more sport and PE in 2015.

With this in mind - and using the Government’s PE and Sport Premium funding to support their quest - the children are immersing themselves in so much sport, both for pleasure and competition.

Nikki Harris is a higher level teaching assistant at Dee Point and part of her role is to deliver PE sessions during and outside the school day.

Nikki prepares team squads for competitions, often running additional squad sessions for the children. Alongside this, the school has recently purchased a minibus to give them greater flexibility in getting children to events.

The school is currently participating in at least two competitive matches or tournaments a week including football, hockey, rugby, basketball to name but a few.

As well as this, Nikki has been devising new and exciting opportunities for children to play sport at break and lunchtimes. In the summer the school installed an all-weather sports pitch which is used daily for a range of sporting activities.

Every lunch time Nikki is responsible for teaching, leading and implementing a number of games including tennis, basketball, even circus skills.
