WE plan to announce our gardens competition winners next week.

There are a variety of prizes for the winners in our contest sponsored by Bridgemere Garden World.

The summer-long event was all part of our plans to celebrate Cheshire’s 2008 Year of Gardens.

There are two categories: large gardens (detached houses) and small gardens (flats, terraces and semis).

Readers narrowed down the entries to a shortlist of three in each category.

A team of judges has been busy visiting the six short- listed gardens.

Bridgemere Garden World is a gardeners’ paradise, growing rare and unusual plants as well as much-loved favourites.

Bridgemere is open daily until 8pm during the week and until 6pm at weekends. It has a restaurant and coffee shop serving home-cooked food.

Bridgemere’s website at www.bridgemere.co.uk is a valuable plant catalogue, listing plants alphabetically and by area of use.
