PLANS to create a Debenhams store at the Coliseum could create up to 150 new jobs.

The positions are expected to be created if a planning application for the 60,000sq ft development are successful.

Plans went on display last week next to M&S Simply Food at the Coliseum Shopping Park.

The developers are hopeful the store will be open in 12 months if plans are approved.

Debenhams say its Chester city centre branch, Browns of Chester, will not be affected by the proposal.

A planning application is due to be submitted for permission to convert and extend the current First Choice Holidays and JJB Sports premises to create the new Debenhams store.

The application would see a first floor created and an extension installed which would include a cafe and space to sell a wide range of products.

The plans will remain on public view today at Unit 4A (next to M&S Simply Food) at the shopping park from 11am-4pm.

Local residents and businesses are invited to come and see the plans and comment on them prior to submission.
