WREXHAM manager Dean Saunders is seeking reassurances that his ambitions for the club are shared by the Racecourse boardroom.

Following a meeting yesterday with directors Paul Retout and Ian Roberts, the Dragons boss hopes to finalise his playing budget for next season when club owner Geoff Moss returns from holiday in a few days.

“The longer Wrexham are in the Conference the harder it will be to get back into the Football League,” he said.

“You only have to look at a club like York City to see what I mean.

“I feel we have to go for it next season without ruining the club financially and we have to balance the books.

“But as long as I feel we are competitive with the other main contenders then I think we will have a chance.

“I know what’s required next season and I’d like to build my own team.

“I’ll try and use the loan market as well but we need to get the nucleus of the team right.

“The more money that is available to me, the better players we will be able to bring in next year.”
