ONE of television’s Grumpy Old Men will be bringing his stand-up set to Winsford next week.

Comedian and writer Arthur Smith, who also narrates A Life of Grime, is performing at Debees on Tuesday, April 1 – and tickets, priced £10, are on sale now.

Among Smith’s best known work is the World Cup play An Evening With Gary Lineker.

His stand-up shows include Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen and Arthur Smith’s Last Hangover – a sketch being forced to go teetotal after he nearly died from pancreatitis.

Before joining the comedy circuit, the Bermondsey-born entertainer was a warehouseman and teacher and studied at the University of East Anglia, where he took a creative writing course run by novelist Malcolm Bradbury.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm. To buy tickets, visit www.wegottickets.com or call 01606 558596.
