AN EVENT to alert people to the importance of looking out for early signs of bowel cancer is called Be Loud.

So there’s no-one better able to announce it to the public than Chester town crier Dave Mitchell.

He will be sounding off about the Be Loud coffee morning to be held at the Links Healthy Living Centre, next to Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, from 10am-noon on Friday.

Dave will make his first loud announcement in Civic Square at 9.30am and move on to make further ones in the Port Arcades and then the Asda Supercentre later in the morning.

At the coffee morning you can find our more about bowel cancer prevention, screening and treatment.

It will also feature interactive food tasting and other fun activities.

Bowel is the UK’s second biggest killer cancer, claiming almost 50 lives every day, but it’s estimated about 90% of cases could be treated successfully if caught early.

Many people are embarrassed to discuss their symptoms and delay seeking medical advice.

Be Loud is Beating Bowel Cancer’s annual fundraising campaign, which challenges people to do something loud, or wear something loud, and have fun raising money for the charity.
