A 13-YEAR-OLD Gresford girl has entertained Japanese tourists with her Irish dancing skills.
Rhian Cunnah was joined by two Flintshire dancers, Kerry Piper, 18, and Hannah Graham, 15, as they took to the stage aboard the cruise ship MS Asuka when it docked in Dover.
The talented trio are pupils of the Elsber School of Theatre Dance in Buckley and were given the chance to showcase their dancing ability by Lisa Messham, who runs a production comopany and teaches at the North Wales School of Dance.
Lisa decided she needed a show with a Celtic theme for her production company after the huge success of other shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Lisa contacted Elsber teacher Rachel Catherall, who had spent four years in the Irish dance sensation, Spirit of the Dance. The two friends worked together to come up with the show Celtic Dreams.
Last year, the entertainments manager of the MS Asuka saw a video of the show and loved it. He invited Lisa to stage a shorter, 40-minute version on board the liner while it was docked in Dover.
Rhian travelled down to Dover with her co-stars and Lisa and Rachel.
Lisa said: 'It's was a very long day, but a great eye-opener for the young dancers.
'It will give them a small insight into what is involved in the life of a professional dancer.'
All three dancers will be appearing in the production Back In Time at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, which also includes Irish dancing.
