OAKMERE stopped the rot in the Cheshire County League on Saturday but their efforts were not enough to secure their first victory.

The Overdale Lane side, who have found life difficult in their first season in Division Two, hosted Tattenhall who they asked to bat first.

Michael Cushion claimed 2-31 but breakthroughs were rare as visiting Tatts reached 185-6 from their 50 overs.

In reply, a determined Oakmere made slow progress but lost wickets too regularly.

Craig Phelan provided resistance hitting an unbeaten 30 with Paul Hutchinson scoring 20 from 50 balls.

Victory looked unlikely but not impossible but two quickfire ducks put paid to any hopes Oakmere had of claiming their first win of the season as they settled on 130-8.

This Saturday, Oakmere travel to Mobberley’s Church Lane ground (1pm).

Oulton Park continued their impressive start to the Premier season with an eight-wicket stroll at Didsbury.

Electing to bowl first, Park set about dismantling the Didsbury line up and that they did, restricting the South Manchester hosts to 134 all out.

Nathan Dumelow once again impressed with the ball claiming 4-25 with Robin Taylor in support (2-18).

In reply, Park eased to victory 136-2 with Danny Leech unbeaten on 48 after Jonny Kettle made 47.

On Saturday Park host Oxton (12.30pm).
