SKIPPER Gareth Rowland carried his bat superbly as Gresford returning to winning ways in Division One on Saturday.
Thanks to Rowland’s unbeaten 115, the hosts cruised to 187-3 after Rhewl set 185-9.
Llay Welfare maintained top spot with a 59-run home win over Llandudno 2nds, who, at the hands of man of the match Dave Phennah (6-50), Damian Bryan (3-24) and Phil Bray (1-15), were ripped apart for 98. John Parry’s explosive 80 – a 48-ball knock which included six fours and eight sixes – and a half-century from captain Phennah (50) had hauled Llay up to 157.
Bersham were five-wicket victors at free-falling Northop, who put on 136 and then could not prevent Neil Thomas’ team from making it to 137-5.
Marchwiel & Wrexham’s promotion hopes were hit as they had to settle for a losing draw against Pwllheli, who declared on 204-6 (Andrew Glover 5-54) and then restricted their visitors to 162-9 (Tim Newhouse 53no).
Llay Welfare 2nds fell further behind in the race to go up from Division Four.
They went down by four wickets at Bethesda 2nds, who successfully chased down 167-8 (John Humphreys 61) when reaching 168-6 (Tom Crewe 3-53, Daniel Parry 2-25).
