BRYMBO hauled themselves off the bottom of the North Wales League Premier Division on Saturday with a 10-run triumph over Llanrwst.

Highly-rated youngsters David Lloyd (70) and David Blackwell (57) cut loose as Brymbo declared on 219-5 and then stopped their high-flying hosts just sort on 209, with Lloyd taking four wickets.

Chirk are now only one place above the drop spots after their slide continued with a 32-run home loss to pacesetters Pontblyddyn, who set 252-4dec (Nick Flack 3-54) and then ended Flack’s side’s resistance on 220 (Stevie Kelshaw 60no, Jonathan Phillips 40).

Bersham are looking up in Division One following their four-wicket derby victory at struggling Brymbo 2nds.

After their neighbours declared on 188-9, with Robert Ward (78) the star, Bersham fired 189-6 thanks to Nuwan Amarakoon (76) and de Silva (64).

Gresford had to settle for a losing draw at home to Pwllheli, who put on 201-6dec (Chris Ellwood 2-23, John Bell 2-35) and then restricted the Clappers Lane outfit to 159-7 (Bell 52no).

On-fire Gwersyllt Park blew the Division Three championship race wide open with a seven-wicket success at fellow challengers Mynydd Isa.

An excellent 71no from Ian Pearson powered Park to 117-3 after Isa were limited to 114-9.

Castell Alun slipped behind the leading pack after their eight-wicket whipping at Bala, who cruised to 118-2 after snaffling Alun up for 117 (David Lloyd 48).

Skipper Owen Ward (101no) cracked a stunning unbeaten century as Marchwiel & Wrexham 2nds romped to a 139-run home win over Llanrwst 2nds, who were all out for 71 in reply to 210-1.

Brymbo 3rds lost by 33 runs at Pontblyddyn 2nds, who laid down 187-9 (Adam Meredith 4-39, Jamie Smith 3-68).

Despite the efforts of captain fantastic Russell Penrhyn Jones (92), Brymbo could only get as far as 154-9 in response.
