THREE Northwich crews tested themselves over the 4½ mile Boat Race course from Mortlake to Putney on Saturday.

Brothers Andrew and James Morrison coxed the crews at the Tideway Head and, while all three crews professed to be satisfied with their performance, none improved on their starting positions.

Two veteran crews rowed at Senior I: Bob Jepson, Simon Crouchley, Matt Hackett, Geoff Simm, George Perrin, Paul Clay, John Billows, Doug Pickup. They started in 100th and finished 208th in 19:51.88; Tom Kilkenny, Martin Shaw, Andrew Simpson, Simon Bannister, Mike Francis, Steve Warren, Steve Wignall, Nev Hand started 341st and finished 375th in 21:51.72.

At Senior IV, Alex Riddell, Max Andrews, Joe Anderton, Peter Tolson, George Clarke, Peter Morton, Jack Palmer, Matt Evans started 341st and finished 375th in 21.59:22.

On the River Weaver 11-year-old Nathan Jump, a first year sculler, rowed 5,000m and raised £160 for Sport Relief.
