DISAPPOINTED by his side’s failure to end Llanelli’s 100% start to the season, Aberystwyth manager Brian Coyne felt his side’s performance showed they are narrowing the gap on the league’s top clubs.

“I was encouraged by our display and thought we deserved to get something,” he said.

“After being punished for a rare lapse in concentration we could have taken a point near the end when Andy Evans went close.

Mark Pritchard converted a Craig Williams cross for the winner and home boss Peter Nicholas admitted it had been a tough game.

“We always expect a hard battle with Aber and this was no exception,” he said.
