A WIDNES couple were tied up and robbed by armed thugs in their own home.
Detectives are hunting the three robbers who struck at a home on Cypress Avenue, Widnes.
The gang, who had screwdrivers, overpowered the 45-year-old Liverpool businessman and his wife and tied them up.
The thugs, who wore balaclavas, stole a haul of cash and jewellery including a distinctive 20-inch gold chain with an Arabic inscription.
They made their getaway in their victims' black BMW, which was later found in Lilac Avenue. The men got in to another dark-coloured saloon, possibly a Nissan.
Police have issued descriptions of the culprits, who all had strong Liverpool accents.
The first is said to be a white male, 5ft 7-8in tall, slim, in his mid-to-late 20s, with fair, short cropped hair. He was wearing a dark tracksuit with white stripes down the legs and light-coloured trainers.
The second was around the same height, stocky and wearing dark clothing.
Police have no description of the third offender.
