A MILITARY parade in Ellesmere Port next week has been postponed.
Soldiers of the Mercian Regiment’s 1st battalion who have just returned from active duty in Iraq were due to march through the town centre on Tuesday morning to celebrate the awarding of Freedom of the Borough.
But the borough council announced yesterday the parade had been postponed due to “scheduling confusion”.
A statement says the parade will now take place in the autumn and details will be announced nearer the time.
The march-past of 350 servicemen and women was to have started at the Wellington Road car park and made its way up Cambridge Road, on to Whitby Road and down Civic Way.
Borough mayor Cllr Keith Butcher was to greet the regiment at Civic Square and presented a scroll granting the Freedom of the Borough.
