THE Our Place team is working closely with the Ellesmere Port community safety wardens to ensure the issues that cause nuisance and blight are being dealt with.

Last week, wardens dealt with 37 incidents in just five days. These were reported mainly through the recently launched ASB Hotline and officers of the main Area Partnership Board, but also while the team were out and about on their duties.

Many of these issues are around low level ASB, damage to property, motorbike nuisance and environmental issues such as littering, minor and major fly-tipping and repeated incidents of dog fouling.

John Hickey, supervisor of the community wardens, said: ‘‘This week has seen an increase in the number of incidents reported, which is exactly what we want; we can’t deal with issues we don’t know about.

“We are hopeful, as more and more residents of Ellesmere Port become aware of our service, we will see more successes, week by week.

“Many of the issues that cause nuisance are done by people who do not realise the effects their behaviour can have. Just by speaking to them and explaining that what they are doing is wrong, many issues can be stopped immediately.’’
