A CHARITY called Sundowns which supports people with Downs Syndrome and their families has been awarded a £1,000 Community Grant from General Motors Manufacturing Ellesmere Port (GMMEP).

The grant is part of a scheme that supports charities in the Cheshire and Wirral area.

Sundowns is run by volunteers. It produces a bi-monthly newsletter, advice on benefits and education, social events for families, support for the siblings of people who have Downs Syndrome, and training and support to schools who have pupils with Downs.

The Community Grants are given away each month alternating between charity and community groups in Bedfordshire, where GM has its Luton plant, and Cheshire and the Wirral.
