A CAMPAIGN to encourage people to compost their town has begun in Ellesmere Port.

The plan to support gardening and growing activities is being run by the Community Composting Network with Cheshire West & Chester Council.

All interested parties, especially not-for- profit and community groups, in the Neston and Ellesmere Port areas are being invited to Community Composting events at Neston Community & Youth Centre, on February 27; or at Trinity Methodist Church Hall, Ellesmere Port, on March 7. Both events will run from 5.30-8pm.

Attendees will find out how community composting could benefit the area, how it supports gardening and growing activities and provides social, environmental and local economic benefits.

The doors open at 5.30pm for refreshments, with the programme of presentations starting at 6pm.

The event is part of an initial project being funded by Cheshire West & Chester Council to find community organisations that would like to get involved in community composting and find promising places where it would fit well.
