A COLLEGE has unveiled a blueprint to further upgrade its Ellesmere Port campus.

West Cheshire College in Regent Street has already developed new partnerships and improved links with employers in the town.

These plans aim to increase a vocational focus, provide more training and boost the Ellesmere Port economy.

Borough council leader Cllr Reg Chrimes, said: 'The impact the recently developed campus has had on the borough is very obvious.

'Students have access to better learning facilities and training with local employers. Future investment can only succeed in strengthening this relationship.'

The proposed developments include improving existing care and childcare, and adding new opportunities in catering, retail, travel, IT and pharmacy.

Other courses will be available to students from West Cheshire, North Wales, Vale Royal and Wirral who need access to customers for practical training.

Existing accommodation for art, design, media and performing arts will be significantly improved and learners will have access to upgraded facilities and equipment.

College principal Sara Mogel said: 'The new building will be state-of-the-art and developed with a view to motivating local people and businesses the same way the recently developed site has been doing.

'We have made some fantastic inroads to boosting the local economy through our work with local employers.

'The main aim of the new development will be to build on these relationships and ensure Ellesmere Port develops a skill base to meet emerging local demand.

'It will also continue to develop us as a great social space for the

people of Ellesmere Port, whether this be a place to visit for a meal, haircut or theatre performance. It is all part of our continuing work to put the college and West Cheshire on the map.'

The developments link in with future plans to build a new vocational technology centre at the college's main site in Handbridge, Chester, which will provide cutting-edge facilities.
