CAERNARFON Town swooped for Leigh RMI striker Dean Walker ahead of tonight’s derby with Llangefni Town.

Canaries’ manager Steve O’Shaughnessy has now recruited half-a-dozen players in a bid to halt the club’s slide towards the relegation zone.

Walker, released from the Blue Square North club by their ex-Bangor City boss Steve Bleasdale, is included in Town’s squad.

Craig Vernon is expected to take the goalkeeper’s jersey again, with Michael Jago still injured, but there are doubts about Leyton Maxwell and Teddy Whelan.

Llangefni hope to have a full-strength squad, including midfielder John Boardman, whose delayed switch from Colwyn Bay has been confirmed.

Another recent arrival, striker Jason Sadler, ex-Porthmadog, is not yet match fit but midfield general Steve Kehoe and forward Chris Jones will be back in contention.

These rivals have met in the league, when Caernarfon were 2-1 winners at Talwrn Road and twice in the league cup, which saw Llangefni clinch a home-and-away double.
