DELICIOUS Noel Coward comedy Hay Fever provides a fizzing summer cocktail of fun at the Royal Exchange, Manchester, for the next few weeks.

Belinda Lang and Ben Keaton star alongside a great ensemble cast to recreate the home of the eccentric Bliss family on a weekend in the country. Confusion reigns when each member of the family invites a guest to flirt with and to impress – without telling the others.

Written in just three days – after being inspired by a weekend he spent at the house of the actor Laurette Taylor – the play’s 1925 London debut came hot on the heels of Coward’s previous hit The Vortex.

The role of retired actress Judith Blisse is played by Belinda Lang of television sitcom 2.4 Children while Royal Exchange favourite Ben Keaton plays her novelist husband David Bliss.

The cast also includes Lysette Anthony who appeared in Woody Allen’s Husbands and Wives.

Hay Fever opened on Tuesday and runs until Saturday, August 9. Tickets range in price from £8.50 to £28 and on Happy Mondays are just £4 for anyone aged 25 and under.
