Children from Clutton CE Primary School learned about the Romans and became soldiers for the day when they visited the Dewa Experience in Chester.

They enjoyed hands-on activities which included trying on replica suits of armour, being archaeologists, handling pottery, looking at artefacts and finding out about the sights, sounds and smells of life inside the Roman Fortress.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and positive comments were made to staff members about the knowledge the children had of life as a Roman.

After lunch the children marched around Chester with a Roman soldier, carrying their own shields and shouting “Sin, Sin, Sin, Dex, Sin”. They learned about the amphitheatre and found out even more about the life of a Roman soldier.
