A BOOKLET extolling the delights of the Weaver Valley has been given the civic seal of approval.

Vale Royal mayor Doug Shingler attended the book launch, the third in the series The Baggin Man, published with support from Vale Royal’s tourism department.

It has been written by local man John Hulme while travelling around the waterways on his narrow boat Bilbo Baggins and includes watercolours by Cheshire artist, Bernice Barrett-Brown.

John said: “Writing this book has opened my eyes to how much the Weaver Valley has to offer.”

And Cllr Shingler added: “Vale Royal Borough Council is very proud to be a partner in the regeneration of the Weaver Valley. This book paints a picture of where we are today and our aspirations for the future.”

The book is available free from www.thebagginman.org.uk and Northwich Tourist Information Centre.
