Llanelli 3 Bangor City 0

BANGOR’S bright beginning did not last and, after a crucial miss by Mark Smyth, full-timers Llanelli gradually assumed control to earn the points.

One goal towards the end of the first half and two more late in the game provided a clear-cut outcome, which left City crest-fallen after recent good results.

The opening exchanges indicated that Bangor might emulate their Farrar Road show on manager Steve Bleasdale’s debut and there were near-misses by Peter Hoy and Marc Lloyd Williams.

Smyth had a crucial chance on 34 minutes, when he blasted a strong shot from 12 yards, only for Llanelli’s Duncan Roberts to react with a brilliantly made stop.

That proved to be one of the game’s turning points, because two minutes later the hosts surged up front to grab the lead, Andrew Mumford side-stepping Mel McGuinness to score from the edge of the box.

Bangor’s woes intensified, when Rhys Griffiths added the second goal on 77 minutes, punishing a loose ball after an Ian Havard block, and on 82 with Jacob Mingorance exploited a deflection to wrap up the game with their third.
