Staff and customers at the Ring O’Bells pub and restaurant in Christleton have been raising money for a charity close to their hearts.

The popular village pub has been raising funds over the last six months with their charity chicken burger - every time one of the burgers was sold, £1 went towards the Franklin’s Star charity which was set up following the death of much-loved Chester football coach Danny Jones.

Dad-of-two Danny from Boughton passed away in March 2015 following two and a half years of treatment for a brain tumour, which was diagnosed only days after he and Tara discovered they were expecting their son Franklin back in 2012.

Franklin, his mum Tara and Danny’s parents were presented with a cheque for £1,459 at the pub by manager Laurence Campbell.

Owner of the Ring O’ Bells, Ian Wade, said: “We chose Franklin’s Star as the charity as Danny touched the lives of many of us locally.

“Our chosen cause for the next six months is the Waverton Play Area, as we always like to select a local worthy cause.”
