POTENTIAL firefighters are needed at Chirk Fire Station.
The service is on the lookout for retained firefighters who can help the community in a crisis.
Chris Nott, county operations manager for the Wrexham area, said: “Retained personnel are community firefighters providing essential fire and emergency cover for their fire station’s area.
“We are looking for suitable individuals who can travel to their local fire station within four minutes of being paged for a call-out.
“These people might be builders, shopkeepers, factory workers, nurses or housewives during working hours but we would ask that, in addition, retained firefighters are available to attend emergency incidents as and when required.”
Applicants can be male or female and must be aged at least 18, have good physical fitness and pass aptitude tests.
In addition to monthly retaining fees, payments are made for turnouts, attendance and drill nights.
Anybody interested can call Helen or Kath on 01978 367870 or leave a message at Chirk Fire Station on 01691 772497.
