Children from a Chester primary school took centre stage last night at a massive concert where they were joined by music star and TV presenter Stacey Solomon.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Acresfield Primary in Upton travelled to the Phones4U Arena in Manchester for the Young Voices 2014 concert.

Young Voices is the largest school choir organiser in the world and currently organises more than 14 capacity concerts a year in the UK and Ireland’s leading arenas.

Each year more than 2,500 schools, 90,000 children 6,000 teachers and 120,000 family and friends come together to enjoy music and celebrate singing.

Past concerts have attracted such star names as Alexandra Burke, Beverley Knight, Katherine Jenkins and Joss Stone.

And last night it was the turn of Stacey Solomon who sprang to fame after coming third in The X Factor in 2009 and winning I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2010.

Children from the Acres Lane school arrived at the venue yesterday lunchtime to begin the build-up to the evening concert.

Their involvement in the event came just two months after Acresfield youngsters were seen on national television performing a nativity scene on ITV’s This Morning programme.
