A group of children from Childer Thornton Primary School competed in the Regional Biathlon Schools Championships, which started in November 2013.

The event involved running 800m followed by a swim of 50m with both times being added together at the end.

As a result of their great performances, some of the children made it through to the National Schools Championships, which were held at the Olympic Park.

Charlie Liptrot, Adam Grove and Harvey Tegg enjoyed the experience of competing at an iconic sporting venue.

Harvey, in particular, had an excellent performance competing against some of the best runners in the country as after all the regional qualification races had been held, Harvey’s 800m time was within the top five across the country.

In the final, his running time was fourth quickest out of all the finalists.

Both parents and staff cheered the trio on.
