CHESTER Zoo is among the top tourist attractions offering visitors few healthy eating options, a new report by the Consumers' Association has said.

UK theme parks generally serve "the same old fatty fast food as ever", the association's Which? magazine said.

The three worst are Camelot Theme Park, Chorley, Lancashire; Flamingo Land, Kirby Misperton, North Yorkshire; and New Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, Lowestoft, Suffolk, closely followed by the zoo, Which? said.

New Pleasurewood Hills was described by researchers as "arguably one of the most depressing of all the theme parks in terms of the choice of food on offer".

Among attractions receiving plaudits were the British Museum in London, Edinburgh Castle and Legoland Windsor in Berkshire. These offered a wide range of foods including pasta, baked potatoes, vegetables, salads and fruit.

"The (tourist) industry needs to ensure that wherever you are it's just as easy to pick up a nutritious sandwich and some fruit as a hotdog and fries," said a Which? spokesman.
